A clear guide to your report
The TREC form selections
I — Inspected
NI — Not Inspected
NP — Not Present
D — Deficient
Read the form selections together with the inspector’s comments. ‘Inspected’ does not mean an item is free of deficiencies.
What the report icons mean
Use these symbols alongside the written findings. Each icon describes an individual observation, not a rating of the entire home.
No Deficiencies
No deficiency was observed in the inspected item at the time of inspection. This does not guarantee future performance or conditions that could not be seen.
Deficient
An observed condition needs attention. Read the finding for the recommended repair, correction, or further evaluation.
Hazard
An observed condition may present a safety risk. Read the finding carefully and follow the recommended precautions and next steps.
Maintenance
Routine care or upkeep is recommended to help maintain the item and reduce deterioration.
Information
Helpful context about the home, equipment, or an observation. Read the note for details and any recommended follow-up.
Not Inspected
The item was not inspected. Read the report for the reason, limitations, and any recommended further evaluation.

About these samples
What does the sample library include?
The viewer includes a 23-page sample home inspection report and seven supporting examples: findings summary, equipment inventory, foundation elevations, floor plan, aerial roof documentation, thermal imaging, and grading and drainage. These public samples show how MVI presents findings; your own report documents your property and the services included in your inspection.
Is the equipment inventory the same as the inspection report?
No. It is a separate supplementary reference document. Read it alongside the Property Inspection Report, not as a replacement for the findings.
Will my report include every type of diagram or image?
Your documents depend on the selected services and inspection scope. Refer to your service description and inspection documents for the applicable deliverables.
